Open to all children from newborn through 21 years of age, The Children's Center at The Phoenix handles many conditions. For instance, they care for children with cardiac disease, chromosomal disorders, complex seizure disorders, degenerative diseases, and terminal illness. They also support children who need tube feedings or IV therapy, and those with intellectual or developmental delays. Likewise, they provide care for medically fragile conditions such as Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Hypoxic Brain Injury, and HIV/AIDS.
Director of Admissions Alexandra DeLuise says the Children's Center at The Phoenix is a trusted facility in the area. In fact, patients come from all over the world to be treated, including Canada, England, Boston, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and more. This is because of their state-of-the-art technology, advanced programming, and expert and caring staff. It is also due to their progressive programs and services, including The Refuah Program.
The Refuah program provides services that are understanding and appreciative of Judaism. In particular, they have a Halachic Medical Advisory Board, a highly qualified Rabbi on staff, and readily available Kosher food. The Refuah Program also offers a Bikur Cholim room for families.
Their team has years of experience providing care to children in a skilled nursing setting. Needs are addressed through a multidisciplinary team approach of nurses, therapists, a physician subspecialist, a child-life specialist, an administrator, and a social work team.
The Children's Center at The Phoenix was recently renovated, and they upgraded all their medical equipment. For example, they partner with VOCSN to receive advanced ventilators. These VOCSN Ventilators seamlessly integrate five separate devices—a ventilator, oxygen concentrator, cough assist, suction, and nebulizer—into one system. It can deliver all five therapies, or a mix of only the necessary therapies.
